Malia Reiss is currently tracking sediment transport offshore in relation to rocky reefs and wave forcing. Prior to her work at Scripps, Malia designed a stage-based population model to identify critical life stages for population resilience and restoration efforts in kelp forests. During her undergrad, Malia studied seagrass disease ecology at the UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory and was heavily involved in science writing and journalism at UC Davis News & Media. Aside from sea-level work, she also has a passion for alpine botany through her work with GLORIA Great Basin in the California White Mountains.
