Research Interests
- Coastal erosion and marine geomorphology
- Marine ecosystem restoration and monitoring
- GIS and spatial analysis
- Ocean conservation and science communication
Ella Rae is currently mapping bedrock using LiDAR data to analyze patterns of cliff erosion along the Southern California coastline, with a focus on the intersection of marine and terrestrial processes. Her background in marine science includes work at the UCSB Marine Science Institute, where she supported riparian and coastal restoration projects, and monitored ecosystem health across land-sea interfaces. With a BA in Environmental Studies and a Minor in Spatial Sciences from UC Santa Barbara, Ella Rae integrates geospatial tools and ecological data to inform marine conservation efforts. She is passionate about using science communication and community engagement to support resilient coastal ecosystems and deepen public connection to the ocean.
