Hiro is a coastal geomorphologist and is interested in understanding coastal evolution over timescales ranging from hours to a hundred-thousand years. He studies a range of coastal landforms including sandy and mixed sediment beaches, marine terraces, shore platforms, and coastal cliffs. Hiro uses both remote sensing based techniques and numerical modeling to explore process-form interactions of coastal geomorphology.
