Graduate Student
Research Interests
- Coastal Oceanography
- Surface Waves
- Wave Runup
- Beach Morphology
Lauren Kim received her BS in physics with a minor in Physiology from Cal Poly Pomona in 2017. She then moved to San Diego to pursue her PhD in physical oceanography at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and received her MS in oceanography in 2019. Currently, she is studying the effects of hurricanes on beach morphology using stationary LiDAR. She is also researching the ability of a drone-mounted LiDAR to measure waves and wave runup.
